Muhammad Husni Fayid has lived in Madina and taught Qur’ān in the Prophet’s Mosque for about forty-five years. Born in the town of Shiblinga in the Nile Delta in Egypt in 1945 CE where he went to school, he studied English at the University of Ayn Shams in Cairo from which he graduated in 1964 CE. He taught English at an Azhar institute for six years before moving in 1971 CE to al- ‘Ulā in the Arabian Peninsula, four hundred kilometers north of Madina, to teach English at a government school. Two years later, he moved to Madina, where he was to continue teaching English in various governmental schools until the age of retirement. He has been working in private schools since. He learned the correct recitation of the Qur’ān according to the school of Ḥafṣ at a teaching circle at the Prophet’s Mosque, and eventually became so proficient that he was authorized to start his own teaching circle. Teaching in the Prophet’s Mosque is considered an honor.
